On regagne quelques degrés Celsius dans la Vallée de la Lune, au milieu du désert d'Atacama (au Nord du Chili). C'est l'endroit le plus aride au monde. Il fait tellement sec que le simple fait de respirer pique la gorge, et si on oublie de se tartiner intégralement de crème hydratante après la douche on se retrouve assez rapidement avec une peau de rhinocéros ...

La NASA a d'ailleurs envisagé de tester ici un véhicule destiné à être envoyé sur Mars, à cause des conditions climatiques plutôt extrêmes.

We moved to the North of Chile and gained a few degrees, in the Valley of the Moon (on the Atacama desert). It is the most arid place on Earth : it is so dry that your throat gets sore only by breathing, and forgetting to put body cream after showering will give you a rhinoceros-like skin.

Sinon, quand on se balade là-dedans, on a des petites frayeurs de temps en temps parce qu'on entend régulièrement des craquements qui laissent présager un éboulement ...
